Ethiopia elected to chair World Telecommunication Development Conference (WTDC-21)- Inter-Regional Preparatory Meetings Addis Ababa will host WTDC- 21

On the first Inter-Regional preparatory meeting participants and member countries of ITU, elected Ethiopia to chair the meetings.


Ahmedin Mohammed (Ph.D.), State Minister for Ministry of Innovation and Technology will chair the Inter-Regional Meetings representing Ethiopia. In his remark, the state minister explained Ethiopia’s preparations for success full WTDC-21 conference.
Dr. Ahmedin added, “Ethiopia will undertake the necessary preparatory work to ensure a fruitful conference.” The state minister also reassured Ethiopia’s commitment to make WTDC 21 a successful and historic conference despite the challenges of hosting it during a global pandemic.
The conference deliberations indicated that naming the host country a chair to the regional meetings will help facilitate preparations for the conference.
While making the preparation to host WTDC-21, Ethiopia has tabled the COVID-19 mitigation plan with possible scenarios.


The online meeting saw the participation of over 345 leaders and representatives from across the world.


Participating countries have provided their ideas on the modality of the upcoming conference given that it is taking place during COVID 19, including but not limited to onsite or postpone options
