Ethiopia is to host WTDC-21, the first conference ever hosted in Africa.
Addis Ababa, October 1, 2021 – The national steering committee for WTDC held its meeting yesterday to evaluate the overall preparation of WTDC-21.
Chairperson of the National Steering Committee, State Minister for Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Ahmedin Mohammed (Ph.D.) said, “Ethiopia is diligently working to make the World Telecommunication Development Conference to be hosted by Ethiopia, successful and truly African.
“ The State Minister added, “WTDC -21 will bring an opportunity to share experiences with other countries in the ICT sector, and it is also crucial to build Ethiopia’s image by showcasing the economic and political reforms of the country.”
He also urged “all stakeholders to collaborate towards making the conference historic and a success.”
The National Steering Committee co-chair, Director General to the Ethiopian Communication Authority, Balcha Reba (Eng.) said on his part, “since the conference will be providing future direction and guidance to the telecommunication development sector, Ethiopia will learn a lot from WTDC to further reform its telecom sector.”
The national steering committee for the WTDC has been established to lead and oversee the conference preparation and coordinate the eleven sub-committees comprised of different federal institutions.
The World Telecommunication Conference Held every four years the 8th conference will be hosted by the government of Ethiopia from 6 to 15 June 2022 in Addis Ababa.
This conference will be the first WTDC conference ever hosted in Africa.
