Officials from Innovation and Technology Minister and sector federal and regional bureau officials visited the Innovation and Technology Talent Development Institute which is under construction by the Ministry of Innovation and Technology. On the occasion, the officials also planted seedlings in the premises of the center.
State Minister of Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Ato Sisay Tola, stated that although the construction of the center was delayed due to the challenges faced at national level in the past years, the progress so far indicates the center will be completed in the second quarter of the new Ethiopian year, 2013 (start of 2021)
Ato Sisay also stated that once opened, the center would create job opportunities not only to the target youth but also to the surrounding community. The State Minister used the opportunity to call up on all Ethiopians to support the construction of the center.
So far, the resource for the construction of the center came from various stakeholders while the institute prepares its curriculum, collaboration framework, talent and skill identification requirements and its sustainable business plan for the future.
The Construction Manager Mesfin Balcha said that the construction, which includes a library, laboratory and workshop and class rooms is near completion now.
The construction of the center was started through a government budget of more than 700 Million Birr in Oromia Region Burayu Town Administration in 5000m2 of land given from the administration three years ago.
The center will host and upgrade the talent of 1,000 individuals between 8th – 12th grades, enrolling them in skills program parallel to their regular schooling.
